What is a WebRTC leak?

WebRTC (Web Real-Time Communication) lets browsers exchange audio, video and data directly. To do this it discovers your network addresses — and in the process it can expose your real public IP address to any website, even when you are connected through a proxy or VPN. This is known as a WebRTC leak.

How this test works

This page opens a WebRTC peer connection in your browser and reads the ICE candidates it produces. Any address marked PUBLIC above is your real IP being exposed. Addresses marked local are private network addresses and are not a privacy risk.

How to fix a WebRTC leak

Disable WebRTC in your browser settings, install an extension that blocks it, or route your traffic through a proxy that handles WebRTC correctly. Proxy Universe proxies include WebRTC leak protection by default.

Frequently asked questions

Is this WebRTC leak test free?

Yes — it is 100% free, runs entirely in your browser and requires no sign-up.

Does a VPN stop WebRTC leaks?

Not always. Many VPNs still leak your real IP via WebRTC unless they specifically block it. Always test after connecting.
